As you will no doubt be aware Uber dropped its usage chargers for Riders by 20% back in February 2016 and now they have just announced that all new Driver Partner’s, signed on after 24/4/16, will be charged 25% of earnings whereas existing Driver Partner’s on boarded before that date remain at the 20% rate.

Some times when you accept a ride request, you never really know who you are going to pick up or the topic of conversation durng the trip. That’s what makes it interesting 🙂

Why do various media outlets, print and media, persist in airing articles on various topics in a negative and at times misleading manner?
Over the years there has been a move away from print media (newspapers and magazines) to a more digital bases platforms like web site and social media applications. Men and Romance
Do men pay romantically if they don’t pay for, at least, the first date?
This might be an uncomfortable truth for the feminist movement to swallow but it seems, more often than not, it’s actually true in the majority of cases. In a recent Male Survey undertaken by AskMen.com, seventy per cent of male respondents thought they should pay because, even if women do like it, it’s quite an archaic view of courtship or its simply the right thing to do.

Grumpy Drunk Lady
A common question asked by almost all my passengers that I drive around is – ‘have you had any bad experiences or trouble from anyone?’
Generally the passengers as a hole are well behaved, clean, and have a degree of manners and respectability about them. I have heard of some questionable characters from fellow Uber Partners but it was not until I got a ping request to pick up a passenger from a Campbell St Bowen Hills address that I was going to experience my very first ride where I felt genuinely uncomfortable with the rider.
Extreme Parenting
In our modern society today we have political correctness, the nanny state and generally a risk adverse approach to parenting, have we gone too far?
I am not advocating that extreme activities should become the norm however there is some creditability to the argument that to cotton wool your child is equally adverse to their future wellbeing.
There was a report on Channel 7 Sunday Night that covered this exact issue and it eye opening to say the least. Whilst I agree with taking the kids out and exposing them to real life situations, I am concerned that maybe some of the examples shown here are a little to extreme for the ages of the children involved.
Gender Equality
I really thought this issue was resolved many years ago with all the work and legislation that has been aimed at anti-discrimination in the workplace having been enacted and communicated by not only the politicians but the various lobby groups and unions. [Read more…]
